💎 Phát âm của /ɪ/ và /i:/

Để biết từ nào phát âm /ɪ/ hay /i:/, bạn có thể sử dụng các phương pháp sau:

1. Hiểu đặc điểm phát âm của /ɪ/ và /i:/

  • Âm /ɪ/:

    • Là âm ngắn (short vowel).
    • Miệng mở nhỏ, lưỡi hơi nâng lên.
    • Thường xuất hiện trong các từ có chữ cái i hoặc đôi khi y ở giữa hoặc cuối từ.
    • Ví dụ: bit, sit, live, myth.

  • Âm /i:/:

    • Là âm dài (long vowel).
    • Miệng mở ít hơn /ɪ/, lưỡi nâng cao và căng.
    • Thường xuất hiện trong các từ có:
      • Chữ cái ee hoặc ea: meet, seat.
      • Ký tự e khi kết hợp với các phụ âm khác (e thường đứng ở cuối từ): he, be.
      • Đôi khi ie hoặc ei: piece, receive.
    • Ví dụ: sheep, see, peace.

2. Tra từ điển IPA

Học cách đọc phiên âm quốc tế (IPA - International Phonetic Alphabet):

  • Sử dụng từ điển như Cambridge Dictionary, Oxford Learner’s Dictionary, hoặc ứng dụng như Google Translate để tra cách phát âm.
  • Từ điển sẽ hiển thị phiên âm:
    • /ɪ/: ví dụ, sit: /sɪt/
    • /i:/: ví dụ, seat: /si:t/

3. Quy tắc phổ biến

Dựa vào cách viết của từ:

  • Âm /ɪ/:

    • Khi có một nguyên âm ngắn: bit, fit, sit.
    • Trong các từ có kết thúc bằng -y (âm ngắn): happy, city.

  • Âm /i:/:

    • Khi có hai nguyên âm liền nhau: meet, heat, team.
    • Khi chữ cái e đứng cuối và làm âm dài: these, scene.

4. Nghe và luyện tập

  • Dùng ứng dụng học phát âm (như Elsa Speak, Pronunciation Coach) để luyện nghe và nhắc lại.
  • Nghe các từ được phát âm bởi người bản ngữ trên YouTube hoặc các website luyện nghe.

5. Thực hành với cặp từ tối nghĩa (minimal pairs)

Minimal pairs là các cặp từ chỉ khác nhau ở một âm tiết (vd: /ɪ/ và /i:/).
Ví dụ:

  • Ship và Sheep.
  • Bit và Beat.
  • Live và Leave.
